Upper Truckee river that flows into Lake Tahoe, and Sagehen creek. Wild & Scenic does not always mean good health for the rivers. The Middle Fork Feather was the first wild and scenic river yet has 7 golf courses in a 10 mile radius that feeds the MFFR.
butter (Jon)----You are correct on Sagehen Creek. The hoped for designation was submitted by Senator Boxer in the early '90's (?).
Yes, I am aware of the golf courses in the Greyeagle (?)area. Nevertheless, there has to be some benefits relative restricting housing construction/development along riparian areas. Please don't ask me specifics, then I'll have to research it.
I don't beleive the Upper Truckee river in south Lake Tahoe area ia considered part of the Truckee River Basin.
